Q: What motivated you to get involved as a mentor?
A: To have someone independent, who is able to provide advice and with whom one can talk freely about ones future is something I would have greatly appreciated as a student. I had a great time at TU Berlin and am glad to be able to give something back.
Q: Which topics did you discuss most?
A: What will be your next step? Is obtaining a PhD wise? What is the best way to apply for a job? Which points on my CV are important?
Q: Did you also learn something from your mentee?
A: To be surrounded by the younger generation will quickly let you become infected with their special enthusiasm.
Q: What has been your most valuable experience as a mentor?
A: Being able to give advice while not being intrusive.
Q: What piece of advice would you give to new and first-time mentors?
A: Reflect on your time as a student and imagine how much you would have appreciated an opportunity like this yourself. Give something back!
