Mission DStip Movement - where students commit to supporting fellow students

Lupe

What can students do to fund more students through the Deutschlandstipendium program? Get actively involved as donors themselves! This was the idea that led a group of students from MInitiative (the student initiative for digital media and technology students at Berlin’s universities) to set up Mission DStip in 2019 to create the first Deutschlandstipendium scholarship specially for students from their own degree programs. Mission DStip proved successful and its approach has now become a model for other campaigns.

They all share a common objective: to use their initiatives to encourage, enable, and support groups of committed students to create new Deutschlandstipendium scholarships. The first initiative inspired the creation of Mission DStip Movement, which, true to the spirit of the Deutschlandstipendium networking concept, actively seeks to involve more and more people. This led to the creation of seven scholarships throughout Berlin by the end of 2021.

Mission TU-DStip: organized by and for scholarship holders at TU Berlin

The first Mission DStip initiative beyond MInitiative and digital media and technology programs was successfully set up as TU-DStip. In early 2021, a small team came together with two goals: supporting networking among scholarship holders and fundraising among current Deutschlandstipendium scholarship holders to create an additional scholarship for the new funding year. Using a number of regular digital meetups, a workshop, and other formats, the team succeeded in creating the ideal framework for scholarship holders to get to know each other and exchange ideas and experiences. At the same time, they laid the foundations for a successful fundraising campaign. By the end of the summer, a group of 19 former and current scholarship holders from the 2020/2021 funding year had donated a total of 1,800 euros, enough to enable Mission TU-DStip to fund a scholarship for the 2021/2022 funding year. From scholarship holders to donors!

However, this does not mark the end of the campaign and a new chapter is now beginning. To mark the start of this, a digital welcome-meetup will be held on 21 February 2022 and all current 2021/2022 scholarship holders are warmly invited to attend. Further details have been sent by email.

And there are already ideas for new activities in the coming months. If you would like to get involved or are looking for like-minded people to share your ideas with, contact the Mission DStip team at mission-dstip [at]gmx.de.

The Deutschlandstipendium Management Office team at TU Berlin supports the work of Mission DStip and is pleased to offer advice. We would like to warmly thank Mission DStip for its outstanding commitment to both the Deutschlandstipendium program and scholarship holders at TU Berlin.
