"Einfach spenden, doppelt fördern" - The donation matching funding program run by alumni and friends of TU Berlin continues to be a success in its fourth year

Lupe

A very warm thanks to all our donators

Now in its fourth year, the response to the joint fundraising call of the Alumni Team, Society of Friends of the TU Berlin, and TU Berlin Career Service continues to be positive. Almost half of the alumni and friends contacted during the funding campaign have taken part and their total donations of nearly 60,000 euros have made 32 additional Deutschlandstipendium scholarships possible. These private donations are matched by funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This donation matching funding program enables scholarship holders to receive a 300-euro monthly grant from the “Alumni- und Freundefonds” for a period of one year.

However, there is more good news: Beyond the fundraising campaign, many alumni have been closely involved with the Deutschlandstipendium for years, financing scholarships privately or through their company as well as serving as mentors to the scholarship recipients. As a result, a further 36 scholarships could be funded for the year 2020/2021 (List of donors). In total, the outstanding commitment of alumni and friends has provided nearly half of the roughly 145 Deutschlandstipendium scholarships awarded for the 2020/2021 scholarship year. Their generosity testifies to a strong sense of commitment to our alma mater and is a model of civic engagement and solidarity, especially under the exceptional circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic.

We would like to thank all of our donors for their support. Your involvement offers dedicated and talented students an opportunity to concentrate on their studies without financial stress and, if they wish, to become socially involved.

Together we can achieve more

The Deutschlandstipendium provides an opportunity for TU Berlin and donors, whether private individuals, businesses, foundations or associations, to recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of students. The "Einfach spenden, doppelt fördern" program is aimed particularly at alumni and friends of TU Berlin and is a joint initiative of the Alumni Team, the Society of Friends of the TU Berlin e.V. and the Career Service.

"Einfach spenden, doppelt fördern" remains a success story: As a result of the commitment shown by the alumni and friends of TU Berlin since 2017, it has been possible to fund significantly more than 100 additional scholarships, awarded to students from a wide range of disciplines.

Vivian Waldheim

Scholarship holder since 2019/2020, student in the Biomedical Engineering master's program

"The Deutschlandstipendium allows me to concentrate fully on my studies without having to sacrifice my work in volunteer projects at TU Berlin. My contributions include my work for an association of socially-committed engineers which supports persons with physical disabilities. The funding I receive from the Deutschlandstipendium sponsoring program provides me with financial independence and the chance to make a real contribution. I wish to express my thanks for this!“
